Somewhere, a place for us belongs to the following groups:
Writing WorkshopI stared out of the window, unable to bring myself to look at him.
I must admit though. As far as Trioculars go, he was doing his very best just to blend in.
You know, it’s not so much the long green hair….you get used to that after a while.
It’s that third eye ! Popping up from behind his head …. up and over his left ear whenever it pleases him.
There he is, sitting quietly as you please, two eyes absorbed by the paperback in his lap…..and that bloody third eye….whipping about everywhere like an anemone with a spasm. One minute, a peek at the Times over Jenkins shoulder…. then, stretched almost rigid for a lingering look at Page 3 each time Higgins reaches for another cube of sugar for his tea.
This lunch room is just not the same anymore. For that matter, the whole Public Service just isn’t what it used to be.
You know….it all started when we became part of E.U…...Extraterrestrial Unification.
They’re here from all over the galaxy. Three eyes, four eyes….two heads,no head….exo-skeleton, or like a jelly fish; every department seems to have someone new, and different, each time you blink.
I’m just glad the lads that started with me twenty years ago make my department such a shining example of what this Public Service is, and what it should be.
“Higgins, Jenkins, afternoon tea is over. Back to it lads. We have a sub-light craft due in the immigration dock in fifteeen minutes. Lets show them just how impressive our Public Service can be.”
“That’s it Jenkins….make sure your tail is well off the ground…..cradle it in either or both of your left arms….remember, postural etiquette, first and foremost.”
“Higgins….my God man! Don’t shuffle along….anyone would think you had only two right legs instead of three.”
“Gentlemen…..a fine example of what our Public Service has to offer. I think we are ready to greet this craft from Earth”.

I think you’ve found your true calling with this one. You should see if Art & Stories for Children would be interested in this. If mine weren’t already grown I would read it to him!

Not sure I had children in mind when I wrote it…..in fact, not sure what I had in mind… :)
As soon as I read that leader sentence, I saw the Triocularan in my minds eye…….the rest just happened… :)
I will go have a look at Art and Stories. I am amazed at how many groups there are. I just seem to stumble upon them as I browse around following my nose

as i look for the most sitable groups for my work i read the pieces by others and this is DELIGHTFULL i truly did laugh out loud as i imagined the third eye … thaks for the entertainment and all the very best to you
