This is the outside of the “round” church, that was built by the Knights Templar in 1185. It is supposed to be reminiscent of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem . It has a fascinating history, but it was al but destroyed by the Nazi Blitz during World War 2.

Neil, I love this. Thanks for the info too. The Knights Templar fascinate me.

A great addition to the Heritage and Other Listed Properties Group

  • Me too Sonia! Imagine how happy I was to find that this treasure was a stone’s throw away from the Aussie High Comm in London. Because I had to visit them, it was the perfect excuse to go to this Church during a working day ;-) The hint was that the nearest Tube station is “Temple”.
