My Life, I Leave Fulfilled

I saw death approaching,
Down the corridor of time.
I knew it would always be there,
Waiting, waiting.

But I wasn’t ready yet,
And I fought to hold on.
And lived my life to the fullest.
And it was still there,
Waiting, waiting.

I went out and did things,
That most have dreamed of doing,
And enjoyed every moment,
Oh, the fun I had.

And finally I was exhausted,
My energy all spent,
All I wanted to do was sleep,
And it was there,
Waiting, waiting.

It then outstretched its arms,
The gesture was so tender,
I finally understood,
And I went willfully into its embrace.

Warmth enveloped me,
And it showed me my past,
All my triumphs and goals completed,
It filled me with a sense of wholeness,
And that I had done what I had meant to do.

I have experienced many a country,
And still, I hunger for more,
And now I’m on another adventure,
My curiosity is unbearable.

Where my next adventure will lead,
I have no idea,
But I will find out soon,
And now I am waiting, waiting…
