What kind of bird is this???
NATURELENS replied
Hi Suni
This is a Hoopoe. They occur in Africa and Southern Europe, spending most of their time on the ground rooting through debris looking for insects to eat.

This is such a beautiful capture Neil! And so close to the ground. You must have been on your belly?
NATURELENS replied
Hi Sylvia
I was very lucky with this chap he was a very willing subject. It may well have been my getting low antics that kept him interested in posing.

This is a great shot – I saw my first hoopoe in Cyprus; it dashed in front of the car but the plumage is unmistakable. Great capture
