If Wishes Were Horses

If wishes were horses, then beggars could ride
and instead of being lonely, I could be by your side.

If wishes were horses, The moon would be blue
and you’d notice me, like I notice you.

If wishes were horses, there would be no pain,
I’d look into your eyes, and you’d kiss me again.

If wishes were horses, then things would be fine
And you’d whisper to me, “I will make you mine.”

But wishes aren’t horses, they rarely come true .
And all I ask is just a touch or a glance from you.

But wishes aren’t horses, and how can I remind you
That once you loved me, and how much I loved you too?

But wishes aren’t horses, and you don’t seem to care
that the girl in love is no longer there.

But wishes aren’t horses, she’s a ghost now you see
haunting your memories, with visions of me.
