“Enlightenment is not imagining figures of light, but making the darkness conscious.” ~Carl Jung
Is it not when the communion of body and soul takes place that enlightenment is truly found?
This piece was inspired by personal recovery issues arising once again recently. I have a morbid fear of the darkness a man’s hands extended toward me creates within. As internal processing occurred while I painted the hand, with each stroke I was able to name that fear, and those who created it within me, and release it through a blending of light and dark…hence the title.
Created in Photoshop, Digitally painted hands, my clips of the finches perched, two of my background images, 1 image courtesy of Deviant Art Freebies, (artist “Justalittleknoty”), textures courtesy of Shadow House Creations. All layers adjusted for opacity and color, touched up with saturation tool and burn tool, flattened for presentation.

love like you’ve never been hurt,
dance like nobody’s watching,
and live like its heaven on earth.”

The beautiful background and the gnarly hands create a very dramatic contrast yet the eyes focus on the white centerpiece. Fun and fascinating to linger with this one.

  • Thanks so much Linda!
