Yesterday I took the dogs to their favorite pond to play by the water. It was a special day, as there may not be many more, if any that we will be able to go. Oliver, the blond cocker is ailing badly, he has a tumor in his stomach which is now gaining growth. His appetite is very little, I must feed him soft foods 4-6 times a day. Rosie the Springer, this morning stands guard near her brother, Oliver, as he is very lethargic today, and chooses to sleep in the air conditioned house rather than go out and play.
Though this saddens me, knowing our time now is limited together, I rejoice in the moments the three of us share in this remaining time, I will know when it is his time, for he will alert me as all the others who have passed before him have. I am there for him until the end, out of love, devotion, and compassion that we have shared over the past eleven years.
Please smile when you view this, I know I will cherish this day we had to share forever.
