Styrofoam relief print
Rice paper

One of six from the series Broccoli Heads II. With four colors I ink the surface of the styrofoam plate. It is already indented by the broccoli heads that I bought at the local supermarket and cracked across the middle. Out of the 30 prints I ran off the styrofoam plate I selected six to offer for sale.

I enjoy how the layering of color one after another highlights the rich dense surface of the Styrofoam. I would have to say I may be driven to highlight the texture of the styrofoam. It is so rich.

The broccoli was bought on 11.15.11 in Saranac Lake.

I am obsessed with the rich yellow, red and blue colors of Akua Intaglio printmaking inks. And with improvisation.
