Styrofoam relief print
2011
Rice paper
One of six from the series Broccoli Heads II. With four colors I ink the surface of the styrofoam plate. It is already indented by the broccoli heads that I bought at the local supermarket and cracked across the middle. Out of the 30 prints I ran off the styrofoam plate I selected six to offer for sale.
The layering of color one after another highlights the rich dense surface of the Styrofoam plate.
I “found” the styrofoam tray under my broccoli on 11.15.11.broccoli head, vegetable, sailing, sunset over ocean, sunset over water, sunset and sailboat, sailboat sailing into sunset
I have been walking the skin of the earth for many years. Since 2007 I’ve been cleaning the skin of the earth. I hand print meditative relief abstracts from my gleanings of human debris. NadiaKorths.com
During my everyday walks, I collect the objects. At the end of the week, I compose relief prints from that week’s cache. Colors seen during my walks determine the palette for each print series. They become a record of that time and place.

The original is 3.35 × 3.25. Ah, the joys of uploading to RedBubble to be able to offer it in larger sizes :-).
Matted with black – perfect!
