Profile

That’s me in the background, with my daughter Emily who, along with my partner Sarah, is the most important part of my life.

After my family, art is the second most important aspect of my life. I am an architect by profession and it is this that underpins most of my artistic endeavors. I spend my working life thinking about space, how it is created and 3 dimensional composition and I think this is probably reflected in my paintings and photography.

My paintings are generally abstract in nature and done in acrylics, often with charcoal. They strive to capture not a representation but the essence of a form, emotion or concept. I am interested in dynamics, movement and perspectives and how this can be represented through form and colour.

I live in Yorkshire and my photography hopefully captures some of the beautiful, inspiring landscapes that I have the good fortune to have on my doorstep.
