Tied in a yellow bow.
Why people choose red, dear
Only God can know.
And chocolates taste heavenly
Given any other day.
So expect some tomorrow, dear,
Don’t fret, they’re on their way.
I know that you’ve expected
A formal dinner for two.
But just for tonight, dear,
Let’s try something new.
Your beautiful eyes, dear,
Will light up my night.
So put away those candles,
They’re an unwelcome sight.
Leftovers are best, dear
Served on paper plates.
Let’s not break the china,
For guests they can wait.
You know I adore you,
Even death will part us not,
But all these pink hearts, dear,
Our eyes they will rot.
Cupids with long arrows,
Ridiculous, singing cards,
This ludicrous “holiday”
Leaves wallets in shards.
And when it comes to numbers,
Thirteen’s always to blame.
But thirteen plus one, dear,
Makes thirteen look tame.
Pleasant dreams, my sweet wife,
You’re the key to my – OUCH!
I guess we’ll be fine tonight,
Just me and the couch.

JAK, Summayyah. I had a contest with my sister, who could write the better poem, but her heart wasn’t really in it, and I already had an idea of what I wanted to write.

Thank you Angela. It is for the boredom competition, which dictates that we need to write a poem, either anti- or pro-Valentines’s Day, and not use the words “love” or “valentine”.
A man is talking to his wife. He does not like Valentine’s Day, and is presenting his case against it all through the day, until she finally blows her top and sends him away.

It’s BCVanti. I made a mistake and entered this in the boredom competition (the BC) which was about Valentine’s (the V) day. A person could be for or against (the anti) Valentine’s Day.
