Travelling between 29 different countries I was becoming bored-senseless in visiting monumental-tourist traps; consequently I begun to embrace my curiosity about cultures, history and people by clicking my camera in a slightly different way…

I’ve always felt the culture of a nation is entrenched within the locals, so via focusing through my camera lens into the eyes of others – I aimed to express the life, cultures and traditions of the countries I have delved into.

The faces and life scenes you will see in this collection are of real people who despite living worlds away, simply share my gnawing curiosity about culture and human emotion. Every photograph is shot through the eyes of someone who holds a strong desire to tell a story, yet know it may never be told. Consequently with language barriers hindering communication, they open themselves up to the camera- all with the hope that the person watching at the other end- will simply share their laughter, sympathise with their pain or merely get a glimpse of their existence.

This collection aims to encourage one to look beyond trivial distinctions, such as race, culture, skin colour and nationality and recognise that behind these inconsequential qualities- we all smile, cry and laugh in the same language.
