This was taken in December 2007 in Port St Johns in South Africa. It was one of the biggest and most beautiful moths I had ever seen.

!!!One of the Most amazing Moths I have ever seen, I have one that is really big part of it disintegrated but as soon as I find where I had packed it I will have to post it, but it is definitely not close to how wonderful this is and it is still alive and well. This reminds me of a decorative area rug, that one would see in a Five Star Chalet. Great Capture
WOW, Natalie .. this is so beautiful. I can see the texture and not only is the moth stunning but the texture of the spot where it is lying has a wonderful texture to it also.
The feather texture is so touchy velvety delicate and soft to the eyes……

That looks huge. What size was it from wing tip to wing tip?
It must have been about 20cm from wing tip to wing tip. I had never seen one as big! It’s wings looked incredibly velvet like, such a beautiful creature!
