A dear friend and I had only just completed the bridge climb over the arch, up the stairs visible here. It was an awesome experience. This photo was taken from the Southern Pylon overlooking the arch and roadway of the Sydney Harbour Bridge (aka The Coathanger.) Sydney NSW Australia.

Watercolours effect.

Photo taken with Canon IXUS 80 IS and edited with Lightzone. SIMPLICITY is my niche!

I love anything that is unusual, unique, or just plain odd, and that’s the sort of image I try to capture. I’m so far from being the world’s best photographer it’s not funny, but I do have the photographer’s ‘eye’ and am more than proficient at capturing the images I see in my world. Thanks for taking the time to view my portfolio. Feel free to leave a message and say G’day.

    Oh love this looks fabulous

  • Thank you Kym. I took a friend from Brisbane down to Sydney in April, and we did the bridge climb. It was brilliant, but the Southern Pylon gives a different perspective yet again. It’s a view of the bridge most people don’t get to see. Definitely worth the trip :-)

The southern Pylon used to have a family of persian cats at the top of it. My grandmother used to take me to the Pylon on school holidays as well as the zoo, museum.

  • It’s a great spot. I’ve only been up there a couple of times. What an awesome place to live! Lucky cats. I did the zoo this trip as well. Not been there for probably 20 years, nor the museum. I do love the art gallery. I used to spend all day there.

This almost looks like a Toy town effect great!

  • There’s probably a program that does this in a minute, but in Lightzone, I just tinkered. This is what happened, so I worked on it from there. It does look like toy town, The cars look tiny.

Fantastic POV!!! Makes everything look miniature!! Great capture!!

  • Thanks very much Deborah. This is a great lookout in Sydney. Definitely not the highest or anywhere close to it, but an interesting one all the same :-)

Obviously the perspective here is fantastic & it does look like miniature cars with the effect! I love the view of the trusses from the top & all if the details in the bridge itself!

  • I took a friend down to Sydney for her 40th birthday, and we did the bridge climb that day. It was an awesome experience, and the weather was perfect. Unfortunately no cameras were allowed (I guess people kept dropping them onto the unsuspecting below), so the pylon lookout where I took this photo from was the next best option. It’s still a fair way up, so everything looks miniature below. The cars were tiny, and the people were like ants :-)

excellent image I would never get a shot like that I am afraid of heights

  • Never say never, Melissa. It felt totally safe, even over the top of the arch itself. It was a wonderful experience, and truth be known, I freak out on to of a ladder. that to me is scarier than this. If you’re in Sydney, go check it out :D
