I, Adam Turner, have the soul and appellation of an artist, but though I feel this to be truth with the most earnest sentiment, I’ve not the hands and cannot draw. Oh, but I do write.

My Favourite Authors Are:

1) Mishima Yukio; the only man in known history to attempt a 5-man coup d’etat (sp?), only to have it serve as a stage for his own dramatic suicide.
- Temple of the Golden Pavillion
- Confessions of a Mask
- Sea of Fertility
- Shorts: Martyrdom & Cigarette

2). Edgar Allen Poe; King of Horror.
- The Fall of the House of Usher (The Haunted Palace)
- The Pit and the pendulum
- The Raven
“And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor, shall be lifted… Nevermore”

3) H. P. Lovecraft; Prince of Horror.
- Dreams in the WitchHouse
- At the Mountains of Madness
- The Statement of Randolph Carter
“Warren is dead, you fool!”

4) Arthur C Clarke; this Englishman wrote brilliant sci-fi. If you follow his writing; Britain participates in the space race when he writes in the thirties and forties; but later on his stories are centred on american and russian activity when it becomes fairly obvious that they’re the main players. I find this quaint. He died recently at a ripe old age in Sri Lanka.
- City in the Stars
- The Last Command
- The Nine Billion Names of God
“Overhead, without any fuss, the stars were going out”

5) Murakami Ryu; another Japanese, though more modern, but no less queer i suspect. Murakami (a name which other japanese authors share) writes graphically; his story lines are gripping.
- Coin Locker Babies
- Almost Transparent Blue
- In the Miso Soup

To be of Humankind

Heavenly beings, plain to see, but leaving no evidence of their presence, are telling me that i am worthless. They are telling me that i am much like the animals i eat, or the insects i may involuntar…

The Mundanity of Daily Existence

I’ve sustained myself another day. And will do so again tomorrow with any luck. I have no grand plan yet.

Atheists on a Train

I was riding on the Nottingham-Liverpool train, the window to my left, the luggage rack to my right, for I was up at the front of the carriage. All behind me were filled seats. The lack of distraction…

Chopin's Ocean

The sun is put out into the ocean / And I, perched in the sand on my knees, / Hear its dying hiss in the coastal breeze. Black clouds to a black sky, a grim / Reflection in droving black waves, / P…

Van Morwhich talks with Ptelmau

Van Morwhich talks with Ptelmau. The boy’s eyes were big and blue, though now squinting, and his skin, smooth and pale, which was wrapped taut about his arms, was rising with goosepimples, for he…

The Angel and the Toad

The night air was warming and languid, an oily feeling all around, and this held for me the illusion of heightened movement and flexibility. In short, the night gave me energy in the most unusual way.…
