Famous Japanese girl who was two when the Atom Bomb was dropped. She later died of leukaemia, caused by the bomb. Her aim was to make 1000 paper cranes for peace. I visted the shrine when I was in Hiroshima a few years ago, very moving.

This is adorable. I remember the story of the 1000 paper cranes from my childhood and it’s stayed with me since.

  • Thanks Jo. Yes, it’s a story from my school days too. Resurfacing, after my visit to the Peace Memorial at Hiroshima a few years ago.
