Lest We Forget

Acrylic on A3 Gesso Paper

Card SOLD – Oct 09

The Ode

They shall grow not old,
As we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them,
Nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun,
And in the morning
We will remember them.

Naomi this is so precious I lost my little sis when she was only six I still grieve and this touched my heart -Ben

  • Naomi O'Connor replied

I’m so sorry Ben i have just realised that I did not reply on your comment. How very hard losing someone you love so much when they were so young. I don’t believe we ever really get over losing someone so special to us. Hence why grief appears at any time, often many years after the loss. I guess we just learn to manage. I’m glad this meant something to you.

A beautiful visual metaphor to the words.

  • Naomi O'Connor replied

This ode is haunting. So hard to try and match it with a piece of art. Thankyou so much for your encouragement!

I think you may well have done it again.

Your lines so few but strong and colour all in one that can’t clash…. I just stare at this one and feel a bit lost. (in a lovely way)

Beautiful Painting and a moving Ode .. Visual art can be powerful & married to a meaningful text … just wonderful , well done !

  • Naomi O'Connor replied

Thankyou Rick. Yes, ode to Australian and New Zealand soldiers (ANZACS) – very moving. We wear poppies on Rememberance Day in Oz in their honour.
