You certainly brought out the five-year old in me! You have such a lovely style. Interesting to note in your bio, that you stopped drawing when you were about five. Years ago, I did a research paper for my Design degree about why kids stop drawing after a ceratin age. One of the things I found out was that almost all kids thoroughly enjoy drawing when they are very young because they can express their ideas and thoughts freely without being ‘judged’ by adults….but as these kids get older, not only do they develop interests in other areas, but also, they feel pressured by the adult world to make their drawings look like the ‘real’ thing. When a two year old draws two sticks side-by-side and says, “That’s me and my bunny,” the adults go “Awww” but if that were a six-year old, the adults would probably say, “Wait, how about adding the heads, legs, ears and a tail?” Sad, but true. Perhaps this is why so many people have a tough time appreciating abstract art. I am so glad you worked yourself back into expressing your own ideas through your endearing illustrations.
