Only A Mother Would know

I’d love to travel across to your land
To stand beside you to hold your hand
To offer a shoulder, somewhere to lean
As you struggle to keep the crying unseen
Not just as your friend – you have those a plenty
You live a full life, by no means empty
I’d offer support, from one, to another
Not friend, not family, but Mother to Mother
I’d hold you up, and share in your joy
As you try to hand over your sweet little boy
I know you will find, how hard this will be
I’d act as your rock, you could lean on me
Even though you would smile for the joyful day
I’d know how much you want him to stay
You will find it such a hard thing to do
But I would remind you – that your one, is now two
Two in your heart, two in your life
Two joined together, and free from strife
With a person like you to be their Mother
Their a luckier couple than any other
So please my friend, enjoy the day
Join in the fun, the song and the play
And if at one moment, you start to feel fear
Just think of me Deb – I’ll be ever so near.

For Deb…..while it may be hard to hand the care of your “baby” over to someone else, God will watch over and take care. It is my experience that bringing a new person into the family can be extremely rewarding. God bless and have a wonderful day!

Our only child, our son met an English girl and her friend while they were back-packing here. He married her and they live way over there 14,000 miles away with our two grandchildren one we still haven’t met our grandson of two years. Deb, they will always be our babies, we are just handing them over to someone else to care for and it is a constant letting go and gaining a daughter and grandchildren in the process. (just wish they were a bit closer)

How incredibly thoughtful, sweet and kind to have written this poem for Deb. My son is only 5 and I can only imagine the feelings of this event, Deb. I have a hard enough time just letting him play at a friend’s house. But the greatest feeling I would think would be that of joy that your son has found love and happiness. For I know as mothers that is our greatest wish for our children, even if it means letting them fly.

Debs, you are about embark on a wonderful journey. Your son is adding to your joy by giving you a daughter. They will increase your happiness by giving you a grandchild (one or more) God willing and you will know the wonder of holding a child of your own without the pregnancy and labor pains that go with it. May God fill your life and your home with Joy and happiness and may your son’s marriage be blessed with Health, Happiness and Prosperity.

Hi Debs, Mine are all out, happy in marriage with their own homes and families. With time you will learn to except the 2nd place in his heart but the corner stone will always carry your name on it for that is where their strength lies when in need, love or advice. In you heart will grow a new love for the one who fullfill your sons dreams with happiness and eternal love. God bless you and your family on this wonderful day. Regards, Mags.

The main thing you have always got to keep in mind when a child of yours gets married, your not loosing a child you are gaining a new child be it a son or dauther. Also think about the upcoming grandchildren! This is not the end it is just the begning.
