Hey guys, I feel the need for a break – just to get away and spend some quality time with hubby – no kids, no work, nothing but relaxing and doing my own thing.
I dont want to go long haul because hubby can only get a week off work [not worth the long journey], so I am looking for something in Europe.
Im not really the beach type – I love the beach, and to swim in the sea, but I can only do it for an hour or two before I get bored, and I certainly couldn’t do it every day for a whole week – Im not much into shopping either. I like to walk, see the sites, and “Do things” when I go away. I love nature and wildlife, so am looking for something where I can perhaps combine this with my break.
Any ideas or suggestions would be most welcome.
Im looking for a fully inclusive break, in a nice hotel, close to the beach. I can hire a car if needed too. It has to be hot!

I would suggest the Algarve. It is not all beaches (although there are plenty of them), the history is fascinating. Also, the region between the Algarve and the border with Spain is a large nature reserve.
Another great place is Brittany, wonderful old towns, great beaches and the food is wonderful.

South of France – somewhere near the Pyrenees so that you can shoot over into Spain for a day.
We stayed there for a fortnight when the kids were small – lovely area. Don’t know about all inclusive though as we went camping.

haha – Robert – it would take me a day and half to get one way from the UK – then there would be time zones and jet lag – I would probably only get one or maybe two days to holiday out of that. We both want to visit Asutralia and New Zealand – over a long two month break sometime, so, watch out for us landing :)

If you stay away from the tourist areas, the Algarve has a great deal to offer. For the nature reserve, look at: Parque Natural del Entorno de Doñana.
You should also consider the Moorish influence in Southern Portugal and Spain which has left wonderful architecture and many diverse cultural influences

Can’t offer a suggestion for a location, but having just returned from a holiday with my husband minus the kids (first time in 25 yeears), I can thoroughly recommend it. When you get there, enjoy the time together.

Spent a wonderful week in the Lugano (Italy) area a couple of years back – some wonderful little towns to explore, fanastic old buildings, great walks through parklands with towns along the way for coffee and food and incredible views. Had the best meal of my life there in an outlying village. Lugano itself is quite touristy but lots of ferries to take you away from it all
When you’re ready for the long haul – well of course Australia is hard to beat but I’m pretty biased ;)

We are going Here for a week from 20 Sept. They do Fri-Mon, or Mon-Fri also. 3 1/2 hours drive Julie from you.

PS. Great walking country around, quaint fishing villages, Looe Harbour, (my night shot) Polperro is only 10 mins away, Fowey, Truro. Camp does half board, its a mile outside town, you can get a train there.
I sound like the Cornish tourist board. :-))
Cant guarantee the weather tho Julie.
