What do you think about this suggestion also...

How many times have you thought of buying some card of an image you like, but when you click on it to see it, the card has white borders on top and bottom because it’s not sized correctly for a card?

I wonder if RB could offer the option to see it as a card before it’s submitted to your gallery. Then if you don’t care, you can leave it. But if you want to crop it down you can do that before everyone sees it.

Also, how great would it be if RB could figure out a way to allow you to crop it right there, with a template!

Here is where RB welcomes feedback.

I crop some of my pictures and I don’t have the white at the top or bottom. I did have one do that and I corrected it by bucket filling the white area, which gave the picture a little extra color. Also people can resize if they aren’t big enough for cards, I’ve done that also.
Yes, your idea of a template would be a fantastic tool. When posting your pictures, it would nice if a message flashed about the size of your picture being to small so you could make the adjustments right then while posting. To some that might seem like a nuisance by having the extra step, but it is well worth it in the long run. Then all pictures would be a good size for saleing

I like that idea. I voted for it. But actually I would also like them to make the cards 5×7 to fit in a 5×7 frame.

I do find it odd that they use a 4×3 format rather than a standard photographic 5×4 equivalent.

Having said that, if you compose your pictures in the first place as a 4×3 format, it fits all the buying options on redbubble, right up to large poster size if your files are big enough.

Hmmm, some of my work is not formatted properly for printing on a card. To do so would require that I crop an image and resize it to fit the card printing area. Some work I just don’t want to chop up for cards. I could upload two versions, one for a card and one as a print, but I’m so overwhelmed with work as it is, I just don’t have time to do twice the work. Maybe I should not offer those images for sale as cards? I don’t know. But offering members the option to resize on site to fit the card is a good idea!

Nancy, there is a way to “preview” your image as a card before making it public; I do this with all my images. When you first upload your image, set it to “for sale” but also tick “Hide this work from others”. Then, after it has uploaded (but no one else has seen it yet), you can click on the “buy/preview” button on the artwork’s edit page; this allows you to see how it looks as a card. If you are not happy, you can delete it, or upload another version, or whatever. And if it’s OK, then you simply go back to the “edit” page and tick “Allow anyone to view this work”.

Also, as Helen suggests above, it is possible to upload two versions of an image, one for use as a card, and one for other product types. The “card” version can be cropped or framed appropriately to fit exactly onto the greeting card stock. I often do this myself, and have written a journal entry about how I do it, in case anyone is interested.

    Cheers, prb.

That’s a great idea about hiding it until you preview it as a card. I will do that. It may take just an extra couple of minutes, depending on the speed of the computer, but it will work for me. Thanks!

I don’t have a problem with sizing. I set my “crop” tool to 4X6 and it is very close to perfect. I remember you had a great tutorial about resizing, and if you would like to provide a link to it here, I will add it to my journal in case anyone is interested to see it.

But I feel there are many out there who are not confident with the process of resizing, or cannot find the tool. So I do still hope a sizing tool can be worked into Red Bubble somehow.
