I’m not a cat person, but I find this irresistible – for the beautiful subject and for the completely compelling composition and framing. The side lighting, the curtain as framing device, the use of empty space, shadow, and bold vertical to focus the subject all work to amazing effect. And Daisy is an obvious sweetheart, to boot. I love it!

Hey Nancy!! Wow… this is a great portrait of her… lots of intrigue and her focus is perfect.

  • Nancy Polanski replied

Hey there, Jen, Hi!! Thanks for the look and the comment. Someone recently was at my computer and said, “boy, you sure have a lot of pictures of this cat !!” All he saw was the most recent hundred or so. I was too embarrassed to tell him I have some on another drive!

  • Jen Wahl

LOL… well, we all have our favorite ‘subjects’... and Daisy is really a great model. Her form and color… plus, her very ‘cool’ demeanor… I can see why you love to take her pic. Hope all is well with you (and your friend, too).

  • chijude

    chijude

How delightful. Obviously comfortable for the camera … wants to show she can look her best at any angle.

  • Nancy Polanski replied

Actually, she learned how to watch what’s going on outside, and still keep one eye on me in case I’m doing something that I might need her help with!

  • chijude

    chijude

    I can get that!
My ChiChi uses the unblinking stare of her breed to remind me that all small dogs are permanently in need of admiration, attention, and most importantly, food! We have a constant battle over her tummy’s circumference …. not apparantly an issue that your sleek and perfect puss needs to deal with!

  • Nancy Polanski replied

Cute name….ChiChi. That’s where your own name came from?
I’ll pass along your compliment on Daisy’s figure. She’ll be pleased.

  • Photomojo

  • Nancy Polanski replied

She has to know my doings at all times. That’s why she was keeping one eye on me. As you can see in the other photos above, she likes to watch me!
