At it’s peak flow. The snow melt off is at it’s highest right now. taken April 3, 2009. All the waterfalls in the park are flowing. They freeze overnight,as they are dropping, due to the temps dropping to below 20* f. (we were camping & it was freezing) But to see the falls frozen and hear them fall and crash the next day asthe sun melted them was just amazing. Our campsight was perfect, and had a view of Upper Yosemite Falls, which is a 6 hour hike. On this morning the ice hard hardened on the upper falls and shown a greenish color. I haven’t gotten to the photo yet, but am hoping I was able to capture that color from so very far away.
While in the park it feels as though you are in another world. All Mother Nature. And full of wild creatures, including bears, which we ran into. I’ll post those later too. One was very large and on our trail running towards us. Funny story, after it was over.
If you ever get the chance to visit this park I highly recommend it. But plan for at least a week. :)
