I was surprised to learn that this lighthouse is made of cast iron with a brick lining. Nobska ("Nobsque"Light is located at the southwestern tip of Cape Cod, between Buzzard’s Bay and Vineyard Sound. The first lighthouse on the site was built in 1828, but design was flawed and there were some serious leaks. The remodeled version was built in 1876. These days it’s owned by the US governement and maintained by the Coast Guard. As you can imagine, it’s a popular subject for photographers.
