A Valentine Treat by Nanagahma

My husband’s favorite thing is my home-made apple pie. So for our Anniversaries, Valentine’s Day and on his birthday I always make him apple pie. This year the following poem was written on his Valentine’s Day card by me:

“Valentine’s Day is a time to say things we sometimes post-pone.
It’s supposed to be said in a romantic way, with
Chocolates, and flowers or silly messages left
On one’s phone.
But because you’re a guy, those rules don’t apply.
There’s a better way, don’t you see?
The way to your heart, I will now impart,
It seems very clear to me,
Is a warm apple pie with icecream
On the side.
Shared with none other than me! :-)”

Well this looks delicious. My husbands favourite too. Not doing my diet any good to look at this for too long lol. Great shot.

  • Thanks, Lyn. It’s OK to look, that doesn’t put any calories on, indulging, well, it’s fruit, so that’s OK too, right? LOL. Thanks for stopping by. :-)

Hi, this is the welcome banner my co-host Anne-Marie meant to give to you with her above comment. Now I’m hungry for apple pie!

  • Thanks Cora. Too bad you can’t just grab the piece of pie right through the computer screen. LOL. Thanks for the banner.

Sandy, this is sooo lovely!!! i make a wicked apple pie that my hubby loves, too!!!!!! Wonderful image!!!

  • Thanks Lois. You know what the say, “the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach”! That sure goes for my husband (and his Dad). The 2nd date that I had with Steve was a dinner at his house. I brought apple pie and you should have seen his eyes light up (and his Dad’s as well)! I think I won him over in that instant! LOL. His Dad is very generous, but when it comes to certain cookies, and apple pie, he hoardes it and won’t share with anyone! Since his Mom’s death, his Dad has now taken to making his own apple pie. He does an excellent job, he just needs to start making his own crust rather than the frozen kind! Whenever we share some of mine with him he always brings the plate back and says, “there was only one thing wrong with it, there wasn’t enough!” LOL. So that’s my story for the day! So do you make this kind of crust or do you make a streusel type?

I’m laughing myself silly here!!!!! What a great, great story!!!!! Yes, I hear ya on the hoarding!!! And you know to me the hardest thing is leaving the pie alone while it’s still just a tiny bit warm from the oven!!!! OMG!! It’s soooooo good at that point, isn’t it?? Yes, I do microwave the pieces that have managed to survive to room temperate … but somehow it’s not the same!!!! And I do both toppings … usually the sweet crumb / streusel now, though. I love that stuff!!!!!

  • Yup, I’m with ya on the slightly warm out of the oven. . .it’s the best. And LOVE the smell of baking apple pie! I bet it would make a great perfume scent to attract the guys, although second thought, they’d probably just be sniffing all over, wondering where the apple pie went!
