Many people perceive film as being an expensive way of creating images. To a certain extent that is true – when your mobile phone contains a camera, it is mind-blowingly cheap to capture an image (approaching free even).

Cyanotypes...
Today I’ve been experimenting with the cyanotype process, and it’s quite fun/funky – one of the simplest, and oldest, ‘real’ photographic processes. (See Alternative Photography for an overview).
Anyway, I’m wondering whether anyone else has used this process, and if so how do you judge the ‘correct’ exposure?! At the moment I’m using that rarest of UK commodities – the sun – as my UV ligh…

I am not a full time photographer – I pay the mortgage etc. with my day job as a software engineer. I suppose that my film-based photography is a bit of a reaction against that; spending an evening sloshing thin strips of plastic around in chemicals is slightly different from sitting in front of a computer 9-5.

So, having read about the redbubble photo competition a few weeks ago, I have finally got around to opening frames and scanning prints which will be entered into various bits of the competition. Thing is, they’re all black and white, but I can only enter one picture into each category, and I don’t know which is the best ;-)
