One year since the day...

It’s officially been one year since I picked up my camera and decided photography was something I could fall in love with. Something about how I didn’t have to work for hundreds of hours on an image appealed to me like nothing else. The amusement from playing around with lights rather then painting light almost made it feel like cheating to me. But slowly and surely it’s become one of my main means of expression. The click and flash of the camera capturing the beauty of the moment has stolen my heart.

My goals this year is to become better, study light, study my camera and learn the art of set building so that my true vision can come through. In the past year I’ve picked up a bit of make-up design and hairstyling on top of using a camera for the first time in years. I still feel as though I have mountains to climb when it comes to the amount of knowledge I have, but I don’t want to give up. There are far too many inspiring photographers out there that just keep me going. Too many opportunities that I can’t let slip through my fingers.

Watching someone’s face light up when you show them what they consider their average tired features and they realize that they are beautiful is one of the most satisfactory feelings for me. The fact that you can make someone’s day that much brighter and give them a little more confidence is one of the things that keep me going.

But I also want to branch out into a more fashion photography style as well. I’ll be looking into booking studios in this coming year, (I’ve been shooting out of my apartment living room)
I want to incorporate more fashion designers, MUA and Hairstylists. And start sending my work out to magazines and agencies. So if you want to be a part of it all give me a shout.

I want to get more advertising out there so that paid jobs are easier to come by, I have flexible rates since I am a newbie to all this but I do want to make this my full time job. I also need to invest in new lenses and the like. But we shall see what the coming year brings. I may end up going to school for the subject, but that all depends on how I’m feeling physically.

I see beauty everywhere, I just want to share what I see with the world, hopefully you’ll join me on this journey and we’ll make beautiful pictures together.

Happy new year everyone
~Anna
