The Sun's Tear
An exhibition piece from a collection of works that revolved around the themes of magic, nature and storytelling. The text translates as “I am the beautiful flower, I am the sun’s tear” which is from an ancient poem “The song of Amergin”. The work is loosely based upon this poem, although influences come from a wide variety of cultures. 50.5×40.5cm

I nearly missed the second green bird on the sunflowers. The rolling hills or mountain view behind her is a nice touch. When you do detail you really do detail. This must take forever. It’s gorgeous.

This is a bit different than the others but certainly no less wonderfully complicated! I love your style and your portfolio is beautiful.

I love those little eyes that pop up throughout your work! May I ask (and apologies if you’ve already answered it elsewhere), what sort of media do you use? The face resembles oil and the other areas acrylic, yet it has the precision of a digital painting. Do you use any references? (I hope so, as I’m always tremendously intimidated by people who come up with this sort of stuff entirely from their own minds!... How dare they.) Either way, I’m quite honestly in love with your work, especially how you treat different areas of your pieces with different methods of colouring/shading.

This one is all acrylic on canvas, I haven’t quite got the hang of oils yet and I’m pretty hopeless with computers :-) And yes, I usually do use references but with this one I don’t think I used many if any for it, I can’t remember! It started life as a little drawing in my sketch book, and went from there. Anyhow, thanks for your lovely comments! I love your work as well!
