The Last Of Her Kind by NadiaTurner

The Last Of Her Kind

An exhibition piece from a collection that revolved around the themes of myth, magic, nature and storytelling. This creature in the cage is the last of her kind left in this world, taken from the wilds for that very reason. A rather sad end for such a proud and wild creature. 76×30cm

It is rather random that I mention this, but your description reminds me of a tiny frog they found somewhere in the jungles of South America recently (wonderfully vague, aren’t I?..) which was nearly extinct. They found what they were fairly certain was the last two or three left, and took them out of the forest in order to save them. But regardless of my little nugget of randomness, the concept of this piece is absolutely beautiful, and haunting, and I commend you for it. :)

No not vague! And i guess thats an idea I’m trying to convey with this piece. Theres so many of these sad stories happening in the world. It’s like the Tasmanian Tiger. They keep what they thought were the last ones in captivity, but what a terrible thing to do to a wild creature! (unless I’ve got my facts wrong and those ones had been bred in captivity, but still!) Why do we humans feel the need to cage the wild in? Anyway, I’ll stop rambling! thanks for your wonderful comments! :-)
