During the Second World War a USO could be found in every community that hosted a military base. These recreation centers for active military provided a healthy environment for young servicemen away from home. This particular USO stands to today as a testament to an era gone by. Located riverfront in Jacksonville, North Carolina, this facility is still serving USMC Camp Lejeune and the Marine Corp Air Station at New River. It is one of just a few remaining USOs that is still open across the entire nation. This is, without question, part of our American heritage and a living history.
