11″×14″ Watercolour using DickBlick artist colours on Fabriano 140lb coldpress watercolour paper

This was a “paint along with Jim project” for the new students in my watercolour class. It was designed to address perspective and clouds.

Buy it, I’m already well into my 60’s and if I’m going to be famous, well, I’m running out of time. I like to think my work has been influenced by the great impressionists, although my wife says it’s because I won’t go and get my eyes checked. At any rate, I do love to paint watercolour and acrylics and it’s a true wish of mine that you enjoy viewing my work. Go ahead and let me know what you think, I love to read your comments. (Well….the good ones anyway.)

Lovely simple scene – peaceful :)

  • I agree, it is a simple scene, but this needed to be for beginners Tash. Thank you.

Very nicely done sir! Simple, bold and effective.

  • Thank you Martin, it was kept simple for the benefit of my newer students, however simple is often a right answer even for experienced painters. Glad you liked it.

Very nice lesson for your students. I like this overall, but I especially like how you handled the rocky cliffs.

  • I used an illustration out of one of my art text to model the cliff Marsha. You know here in NC they just don’t exist on the coastline.

I would love to paint along with Jim. Your students are so fortunate. This has a wonderful open and fresh feel to it. Lovely setting and watercolour, Jim.

  • I often wish that some of my RB buddies were closer, I would love to just have a painter’s group to share with. There are some local groups, but I just don’t feel the connection with them for some reason. Thanks Bev, wish we were closer to each other.
