10″×9.5″ Watercolour using DickBlick Artist Colours on Fabriano watercolour paper

One of my granddaughters posing for me during a two week visit this past summer.

portrait, watercolour, child, girl

Buy it, I’m already well into my 60’s and if I’m going to be famous, well, I’m running out of time. I like to think my work has been influenced by the great impressionists, although my wife says it’s because I won’t go and get my eyes checked. At any rate, I do love to paint watercolour and acrylics and it’s a true wish of mine that you enjoy viewing my work. Go ahead and let me know what you think, I love to read your comments. (Well….the good ones anyway.)

Beautiful Jim! Fresh and immediate…which one has to be when painting children from real life.
My granddaughter is a “Sarah” too!

  • I am aware of your Sarah Sandy, we are both very lucky to have such pretty granddaughters. Thanks and you’re absolutely right about it having to be immediate. lol

Very delicate, wonderful portrait Jim! Love the contrast and composition as well!

  • Trying to do more with less in some of my watercolours Arie, if that makes sense to you. Thanks friend.

Lovely loose watercolour, she looks like a sweetie!

  • Of course I think she is, but then I’m a bit prejustice, Norah. lol Thanks for that lovely comment.

Wow!!! and Wow again! You have conveyed that look of ‘Sarah’ so well! Love the eyes in particular. Great work Jim.

  • That’s a great compliment in that Sarah truly speaks with those hugh round eyes of hers. Thanks Lynda.

Nice loose touch here – I like her pose, too. I see she likes zebra print – so does my 11 year old girl.

  • Lora, you probably know about a hundred times more about little girl fashions than I do. I raised all boys and that was a while back. My granddaughters are very fashion minded and connect with their grandmother on these issues. lol Thanks.

“Simply” adorable. Love her expression. I certainly can see where she gets her good looks. (Barbara!) :)

  • OK, I’ll give Barbara credit for the looks, but the sense of humor and personality clearly comes from me. lol Thanks Marsha.

Lovely work Jim. You have well expressed that young, innocent, sense of watchfulness. And oh my goodness, these little darling granddaughters are growing much too fast!

  • You are one of my long time friends here on RB and have seen the continuious postings of my granddaughters enough to actually have seen them change and grow up a bit. Thanks Carolyn, that feels good.
