12″×9″ watercolour using DickBlick artist colours on 140 lb Fabriano watercolour paper.

While having lunch in Beaufort, NC (which is a popular stopping place for yachters sailing from the north headed towards the south Atlantic) we were walking along the boardwalk at the main marina, when it came to me that most of the yachts I was looking at cost more than my home. It was a lot of money floating out in that harbor.

Buy it, I’m already well into my 60’s and if I’m going to be famous, well, I’m running out of time. I like to think my work has been influenced by the great impressionists, although my wife says it’s because I won’t go and get my eyes checked. At any rate, I do love to paint watercolour and acrylics and it’s a true wish of mine that you enjoy viewing my work. Go ahead and let me know what you think, I love to read your comments. (Well….the good ones anyway.)

Beautiful, Jim. There’s so much rigging on one of these yachts that it’s hard to keep track of it all, but you did a great job in sorting it all out. Love the title, too. As they say (whoever “they” is) that money isn’t worth anything til you spend it.

  • Let this be just between us Marsha. I actually intensionally left out a few lines in the rigging for artistic reasons. lol Thanks dear.
