Acrylic using Galleria paints on canvas board 14″×11″

Painted with no reference, solely from my imagination. Was attempting to demonstrate to my acrylic students how to loosen up and just paint sometimes.

Buy it, I’m already well into my 60’s and if I’m going to be famous, well, I’m running out of time. I like to think my work has been influenced by the great impressionists, although my wife says it’s because I won’t go and get my eyes checked. At any rate, I do love to paint watercolour and acrylics and it’s a true wish of mine that you enjoy viewing my work. Go ahead and let me know what you think, I love to read your comments. (Well….the good ones anyway.)

You must have gotten the loosen up thing right for them. Great work as always, I love the colors and definition in this one.

  • Trying to get across to my students that it’s as much, if not more about creative expression than technical skills. That’s what I meant by “loosening up.” Thanks Barbara.

I can feel it coming and it scares me…an ominous feeling of pending storm…well done Jim…

  • Well I guess you know you influenced this one. It’s what came out of the class the other night. Thanks Janis.

Gorgeous color & drama in this one. Do you dream in technicolor? Just curious.

  • I don’t have a glue about my dreams, Marsha. lol I guess I imagine in technicolor.

wow lot of atmosphere here Jim…impending doom..great movement in the clouds…makes the village look so small…!

  • That’s kind of you Linda, I was hoping that the little village would serve to let the viewer see the size of the impending storm.

We should all do some loosening up and just paint for the sheer joy of painting…nice work Jim!!

  • I knew you would get it Sandy. I hope I’m getting through to my students that it’s more about creative expression, than it is about technical skills. Painting needs to always be fun.
