12″×9″ watercolour using Winsor Newton colours on Fabriano 140lb coldpress watercolour paper

It may surprise some of you that cooking is also a hobby of mine as well. I was just thinking the other day about what were three ingredients that I use most often. Between onions, garlic, and mushrooms, one, two or all three show up in just about everything I like to prepare.

Buy it, I’m already well into my 60’s and if I’m going to be famous, well, I’m running out of time. I like to think my work has been influenced by the great impressionists, although my wife says it’s because I won’t go and get my eyes checked. At any rate, I do love to paint watercolour and acrylics and it’s a true wish of mine that you enjoy viewing my work. Go ahead and let me know what you think, I love to read your comments. (Well….the good ones anyway.)

I like this! Great composition and colors. I like to cook, too. My fixers would be onions, garlic, celery, and tomatoes.

  • I’ll use a celery salt and all kinds of tomatoes and tomato products. My wife cans her own tomato relish and I use that frenquently as well. Thanks Lora.

This is gorgeous I just love the onion skins they look so real, you must cook the same way I do, I love all 3 of you ingredients.

  • Thank you Barbara. That’s a really nice comment on the onions.

I don’t like to cook…BUT I love your painting Jim! An instant favourite!

  • I know, you’re too busy running off to art workshops to busy yourself with things like cooking. LOL We keep alot of frozen fast fix foods in our freezer as well Sandy. Thanks for commenting and for favoring.

It does not surprise me, Jim. I think you would be good at anything you try, and therefore enjoy it, like this wonderful watercolour. Love the composition and the wonderful sense of energy and sheer pleasure

  • When I walk back into the den where my wife’s watching TV and she sees me holding my head, I’m going to let her know its from this friend of mine who just swelded my head to twice the size. LOL Thanks Bev.

    Excellent painting Jim.
I love the way you did the onions.
I’m also a creative cook at home and I have worked part time as a cook in 2 different restaurants over the last couple of years.
I love cooking, but not as much as painting!

  • I hear you loud and clear Douglas, my joy of cooking doesn’t even come close to my passion for painting. Thanks friend.
