Study of Childe Hassam's South Ledges Appledore by

Watercolor using Winsor Newton artist tube paints on 140lb watercolour paper.
Painted for a challenge entry.

Buy it, I’m already well into my 60’s and if I’m going to be famous, well, I’m running out of time. I like to think my work has been influenced by the great impressionists, although my wife says it’s because I won’t go and get my eyes checked. At any rate, I do love to paint watercolour and acrylics and it’s a true wish of mine that you enjoy viewing my work. Go ahead and let me know what you think, I love to read your comments. (Well….the good ones anyway.)

you caught his style very well Jim. wonderful work.

  • Coming from someone who I know studies the masters so closely that’s a real compliment Hidemi.

This has an appealing sparkle Jim. I especially like the subtle figure which has to be ‘discovered’ by the viewer.

  • Thank you Brian for taking the time to view.

I see this one, and I have great wonder for your abilities to layer with such fluidity and grace. And, where one would suppose that rock formations might be boring, you instead have expanded on the abstract formations. My hat is off to you Jim!

  • That a lovely comment Carolyn, thank you so much.
