Watercolour using Winsor Newton paints on Fabriano watercolor paper. 140lb.
Everyone who has children or grandchildren understands that what you do special for one has to be done for the other. This is Stephenie’s attempt at a painting. (Stephenie is my oldest grandaughter.) The truth of the matter is that Stephenie probably doesn’t share her younger sister’s passion for art. So this painting represents a shared effort. Meaning that like the one Sarah did, I sketched the image out for her and she painted about 60% of it. I ended up doing the finishing details on this one, like the soft colors in the rose petals. I still allowed her to sign her name on the painting. I felt that it was still important for her as well to simply have the exposure to painting.
Buy it, I’m already in my 60’s and if I’m going to be famous, well, I’m running out of time. I like to think my work has been influenced by the great impressionists, although my wife says it’s because I won’t go and get my eyes checked. At any rate, I do love to paint watercolour and acrylics and it’s a true wish of mine that you enjoy viewing my work. Go ahead and let me know what you think, I love to read your comments.

I think this is a lovely first attempt and hopefully, Stephenie will have enjoyed it enought to do another someday. But, it is not about the art work is it Jim? I know she’ll remember this shared project forever. This collaborative piece is symbolic of your relationship. How fantastic is that?
Spoken like a real grandmother. Thank you Carolyn, I know you get it.

Great going Jim – I can’t wait to get a paintbrush in my Grandson"s little hand.
Thanks, I do believe children learn with a more open mind. So they’re never too young to create.
