Acrylic on 16″×24″ stretched canvas

My favorite vegetable is the best straight out of the garden. I used some artistic liberties in that I don’t grow this many varieties, but I decided it would make a better painting to show a variety of shapes and sizes.

Buy it, I’m already well into my 60’s and if I’m going to be famous, well, I’m running out of time. I like to think my work has been influenced by the great impressionists, although my wife says it’s because I won’t go and get my eyes checked. At any rate, I do love to paint watercolour and acrylics and it’s a true wish of mine that you enjoy viewing my work. Go ahead and let me know what you think, I love to read your comments. (Well….the good ones anyway.)

Awesome piece…just can’t do fruits and veggies… tried once and they turned out sooooo bad I vowed I’d never do it again!!! I envy you!

  • What a nice compliment Susan, thank you. I’m not so sure I’m buying that you can’t do fruits and veggies, I’ve seen too much of your work. I think you were like me with portraits. It wasn’t something that came easy and therefore it wasn’t fun, so I avoided doing them until I made myself paint them more often. Now it make up a fair portion of my commission work.

J’aime beaucoup cette peinture….I love this painting very much, it offers all the vivid colors of the new season and is inviting to have a bite of each veggie, the comp. itself, with all the different shapes is so very well executed…..also, you are so patient for painting all the little dots so regular !

  • Hard to believe I’m learning French from an friend and artist. That’s really a very nice compliment Corinne, thank you very much. As for the dots – 36 years working as a graphic artist did that. I have to battle with trying to stay loose in regards to my painting.

I say Toe-mart-o! Nothing tastes or smells like a fresh one gathered from the garden. This is fabulous! Nice little reflective bits of colour on the colander too. I can see you haven’t been vegetating Jim!

  • Ha Ha. I did actually put the brushes down for a week while visiting with my grandaughters in PA. But trust me, it was a busy week trying to keep up with my girls. Thanks Lynda for being so observant towards my art. I too like to look close and actually study many of the works I view and there’s some amazing talent to study from here on RB. If we were closer I would love to study pastels under you direction for example.

Beautiful bright colors and a well arranged composition Jim! It sure looks healthy as well!

  • Don’t call it healthy Arie, it will ruin the taste. LOL Thanks friend.
