Sketching the Dunes by Jim Phillips

10″×8″ Acrylic on canvas panel
Quickly done Acrylic sketch

Buy it, I’m already well into my 60’s and if I’m going to be famous, well, I’m running out of time. I like to think my work has been influenced by the great impressionists, although my wife says it’s because I won’t go and get my eyes checked. At any rate, I do love to paint watercolour and acrylics and it’s a true wish of mine that you enjoy viewing my work. Go ahead and let me know what you think, I love to read your comments. (Well….the good ones anyway.)

for a quick sketch it is lovely fresh..I reckon the paint is still wet!

  • It is still wet, but not for the reason you think…… I used some new paint I ordered, it is Golden’s new “Open Acrylic” series. Very slow drying with a creamy texture, almost like using oil paint.

sounds interesting Jim..must look them up! acrylics tend to dry so quickly especially in the warmer weather!

  • No kidding Linda, you know Golden paints are already a real high quality and their Open series is truly marvelous. The only drawback is this is the classic case of you pay for what you get, I’m afraid. They’re not cheap.

What a marvellous feeling this work has – I must try some of those new fangled paints!!

  • Read what I told Linda above Marlene, but they really do work. I enjoy painting en plein aire occasionally and my paints were drying out real bad, but these hold up even on a warm, breezy day. Thanks for a nice comment.

Love it!! Makes me long for the sea!

  • Think I would miss it more, if I didn’t live in a coastal region. Thank you Elizabeth.
