DickBlick artist color on Fabriano coldpress 140lb Not

The cherries were done as a lesson on layering to new watercolor students…I added the orange later at home just for fun.

Buy it, I’m already well into my 60’s and if I’m going to be famous, well, I’m running out of time. I like to think my work has been influenced by the great impressionists, although my wife says it’s because I won’t go and get my eyes checked. At any rate, I do love to paint watercolour and acrylics and it’s a true wish of mine that you enjoy viewing my work. Go ahead and let me know what you think, I love to read your comments. (Well….the good ones anyway.)

Please look at the title…..is anybody going to get the satire. I really appreciate the wonderful comments on the art, but who going to comment on the humor that was intended.

    I got it……YDM…………

  • Maybe if I had put something like this in the description: One day a group of cherries were just hanging out when a new guy showed up. The new guy was kinda different with a larger personality and was a bit more colorful. It was then that I heard one of the cherries whisper to the other “he’s probably an artist.”

this is a very appetising still life painting Jim… I like the addition of the orange adds contrast and colour..love those shadows…

  • It was the addition of the orange that made me think of the title. Doesn’t always conform or fit in perfectly …..like the orange or “an artist.” Get it?

This sparkles with life and colour, Jim. Great rendering and the orange just sings.

  • Sweet comment Bev. Thank you very much.

He most DEFINITELY is an artist! LOL! Wonderful still life work Jimmy!

  • I know you must be talking about my orange who among all the other cherries is a bit larger than life and certainly more colorful…thus “he’s probably an artist.” Thanks Lynda, I was hoping you’d get it.

I have to admit Jim, that I actually clicked on this image BECAUSE OF THE TITLE! Definately put a smile on my face (it took me a VERY long time to ever actually call myself an artist) BTW, it’s a pretty awesome painting too :)

  • That’s cool that you tied that meaning to it as well Dianne. I was actually making a satirical statement about the orange being different, thus the cherries declaring “he must be an artist.” Thanks Dianne, I really did relate to your interpretation as well.
