Slowly disappearing from the coastal landscapes are the old swing style bridges. Build in a time when the world just seem to move at a slower pace, this bridge would hold up crossing traffic while even the smallest sailboat would pass through it’s gateway. They are being replaced with more modern high rise bridges that even the largest of barges can travel underneath.
This scene is of the bridge crossing the Intracoastal Waterway in Topsail, North Carolina. (One of our barrier islands.)
