Yellow Tulips by Jim Phillips

Acrylic paint on stretched canvas – original 8″×10″

You may possibly remember that I recently did another tulip painting not long ago. My wife liked that piece and asked if she could hang it in the house at least until the next exhibit came around. Well it was a fairly large canvas and also a odd shaped canvas as well, so as a result she couldn’t really find room to hang it and since that time I’ve actually sold that piece. This one is painted on a small canvas that was actually a free demo sent with an order of paints I had recently ordered. I’m going to just make this one a gift to my wife. Hopefully she will like it as much as the other one.

Buy it, I’m already well into my 60’s and if I’m going to be famous, well, I’m running out of time. I like to think my work has been influenced by the great impressionists, although my wife says it’s because I won’t go and get my eyes checked. At any rate, I do love to paint watercolour and acrylics and it’s a true wish of mine that you enjoy viewing my work. Go ahead and let me know what you think, I love to read your comments. (Well….the good ones anyway.)

Beautiful work, Jim…I like the depth of the yellows and greens in this. I thought it was in oil at first.

  • Thanks Gordon, I’m actually very pleased over your comment.

Beautiful work Jim. A very clever gift – flowers that last forever :)

  • Sounds nice when you look at it like that, I think it’s more like dog breeding, where I’m allowed to paint, but she gets the pick of the litter….LOL

Sure your wife will like this Jim. I too thought it was an oil painting. Our tulips are just about ready to bloom….about time!

  • We’re just seeing them in the nurseries, ours are on a similar schedule to yours …. thanks.
