I love the pattern of those black chairs – very daring – nice contrast with the rest of the picture.

  • Jim Phillips replied

These were modeled after some chairs I own except mine are that wrought iron green color. Thought the black would give some needed contrast to this painting.

great skill to have Jim (painting from memory)- like the touch of color in the flowers on the table-like how the various angles work against the horizontal plane-

  • Jim Phillips replied

Not sure about the memory part, but that is what a painter has the artistic liberty to do, is paint something like he or she would like to remember it. LOL Thanks Fred, wonderful comments.

This is another wonderful piece Jim with a feeling of someone having been there. I would have wanted to put that chair in, but it changes it with it out as if someone just got up. What a lovely place to sit. I can’t believe that you did this from memory. You really captured it!! Well done.

  • Jim Phillips replied

Well Elizabeth, when I say from memory, it really just means I’ve really been there, not that it neccessarily really looks just like this. Liscense of an artist and that sort of thing. Thanks.
