Sound Side Dock
Watercolour on watercolor paper
This is a typical scene as small docks with small boats can be found anywhere throughtout the greater sound areas which would include the mouth of many rivers and creeks that feed into the coastal waters that lay to the inland side of North Carolina’s barrier islands known as the outer banks.
Sound Side Dock belongs to the following groups:

This may be typical but it shines with your fondness for your home. There is a serenity in the colors and the cool, calm water and the constrasting lines add another dimension to the piece. Just lovely!

When I read your comments I sometimes wonder if you shouldn’t have been a professional writter. Were you at one time? They are alway so well written and with so much feeling and depth. Thank you Carolyn.
Carolyn Staut, 3 months ago
Well thanks Jim, but no…..although I have two sons who are writers. ...and an 11 yr old grandson working on his first ‘novel’. When I view an image, I try to give a response that the image brings out in me. Even though the impressions of the viewers are all different from time to time…..I really strive to tell the artist the emotional and visual response that I get when they share their very personal artistry. Well all have a personal connection here…...we risk every time we put up a new piece and it is wonderful when someone provides a soft place to land after I have jumped. So, I strive to do that for others. Short version: the golden rule LOL!
Jim Phillips in reply to Carolyn Staut’s comment, 3 months ago
You follow that rule well too! Carolyn you’re an easy person to be friends with and just a delightful person to know.

Very pleasant!!! I love messing with oils. I need the control. Could never manage water colour very well. Like this one!
Jim Phillips in reply to Ozcloggie’s comment, 3 months ago
The only reason you haven’t seen me post anything in oil in a long time is because we’re trying to sell our house and my wife won’t let me make the mess that comes along with using oils right now. So I’m happy to paint with just acrylics and watercolour. It’s been this way for almost a year now. I’m about ready to break her rules any time now. LOL Thanks for the kind comment.
