Graphite pencil on Bristol 9 × 12 inch

Clara Gordon Bow (July 29, 19051—September 27, 1965) was an American actress who rose to stardom in the silent film era of the 1920s. Her acting artistry and high spirits made her the premier flapper and the film It (1927) made her world famous as the “It girl”. Bow came to personify the “roaring twenties” and is widely considered its leading sex symbol.

Originally from the South of England but now living in Melbourne, Australia. I took up graphite drawing at the ripe old age of 42, after a long hiatus of 25 years. I did achieve an O’level in art, whilst at school, and had hoped to go to art college. However, my family and I emigrated here to Australia and art college was forgotten about!! I didn’t pick up a pencil again until 3 years ago. Just wish I had picked up that pencil a long time ago!
