A Glow in the Heart - Card Art #004
Sometimes afraid to just let go
And let the river run;
Sometimes afraid to really know
Who I have become.
Encaustic Art on white card with vignette added digitally.
Tools: small iron (like traveling iron)
coloured wax blocks.

Wow, this is like an illuminated cavern. It has great depth to it. Even stalagtites and stalagmites. (Spelling?) :-) I love this, it has mystery and discovery written all over it.

Thank you Ann. The original title of this one is “A Glow In The Heart” because it also reminded me of an illuminated cavern.

Rosa (it attracted me from thumb nail. Perfect. Your technicque was unknown for me. At least the name…though I know that some people works with waxes and so….Does it smell when working..? it is important for me…does the wax smell when you heated it…it must be so sensual your technique…..Are the materials difficult to buy..I will gt me informed…What sort of paper do you use as support?....If you do not feel like writi g yourself may be you can send me a link where I will se..thank you Silvana…Love your work.and you are a poet too.)

Thank you for your keen insight on this work, Rosa.
The wax has the smell of beeswax when melted. The flow of the melted wax on the iron will glide over the paper reacting immediately to the pressure and movement of the hand. The wax being attracted to the warmth of the iron will try to cling to it’s heat when the iron is lifted creating wonderful patterns on the paper. The hot-air gun melting droplets of coloured wax on the paper, the pressure of the hot air causing the wax colours to move and to twist, braid, tangle and intertwine with each other into a flow of mesmerizing textured colours.
The hot plate warming the support, melting the wax as soon as it touches the surface, allowing the use of any tools you can find to create different textures, to add , to subtract, to rub, to comb, to caress with a brush … LOL! I could go on for ever as Encaustic is a wonderful versatile medium.
I will send you a message with the information on material, tools and where you can buy them.
Thanks so much for your interest.
