This one is a bit special for me. The image is inspired by my favourite RB poet girlinthestars and my favourite poem, in her amazing collection, titled Mermaid. Significant for me, but you will have to read the whole poem to find some meaning for yourself :)

Inspired, my friend Simon Muirhead was kind enough, to let me have complete artistic freedom to use one of his latest photos Flat Rock. This photo is perfect as the background of the image and Simon has become a bit of an expert at these fantastic, slow-shutter speed photos. Check out his gallery!

Here is the poem:
Mermaid

You always thought of me as a
Mermaid
In a sea of sharks
You thought they were always looking at me
So you were protective
Then you thought I was looking at them
So you became possessive
You believed there was a part of me I hid
That longed to be free
But truly, I didn’t
You didn’t know I hated being doused in
Salt water
It never charmed me
I tasted it so many times before
I knew better

You’d always say
You’re so beautiful
How could you want only me?

And then you’d stare off
Making some untrue comment

Leaving me in the dark
With sharks
Circling me
Intoxicated by my lonely scent

I’m sure you’ve heard
I found the love of my life
In a stream
