Since 1989, I’ve lived near Sacramento, CA. USA. With the Sierra Nevada mountains to the east, the Pacific Ocean to the west, plentiful wilderness to the north, and many visible reminders of the area’s past, it is a photographer’s dream.
I’ve been interested in taking pictures for much of my life, and still have fond memories of my maternal grandfather’s passion for showing off the pictures he took with his treasured Honeywell Pentax. My black and white pictures, taken with a small, cheap Brownie box camera, were not nearly as attractive!
It hasn’t been until the past few years, with the advent of digital photography and my semi-retirement (I am past 60 and a bit older than the Baby Boomers), that I’ve been able to indulge my interest. I’m presently using a Canon EOS Rebel and a Canon Power Shot SD 1300 IS, and usually have one or the other (or sometimes both) with me.
While I enjoy a wide variety of subjects, my preferences in recent years have tended to focus on nature photography, especially scenery and wildlife. The nature center near my home offers plenty of the latter, and my collection of photographs abounds in pictures set there.
