Hope for the Future

by Mary Campbell

The pendulum of the clock passing time
Dancing in the reflections rippled on the waves
Butterflies across the shadow of the moon
Revealing secretes
Lives held in our hands
Fragile as the morning sky
Emotions drifting like the sand

Under the cover of darkness
His sprit slipped into my skin
Unto him, I am reborn
Far away across the sea
I feel his dreams soaring into me
I hear his voice howling in pain
Wanting release from all that came before
Wanting peace with all that comes after

Dancing in the reflection of the mirror
In the whispers of the night
We became one
Different yet the same

Evening song of liberation
Lives given and received in a word
The truth binds us and sets us free

There is peace in acceptance
Value in the difference
Value the sameness

I reached out for his hand
Now I hold his heart in mine
A sacred trust

The world is a cold place when there is no light
Fear of the truth
Hiding in shadows

I don’t know what the future holds
I don’t know what the past was
I only know what I feel

Warm in his smile

From the dark at the end of the street
I can see him smiling
Open heart and laughing

That’s how I know
There is a way past all this….

Artist's Description

A poem of hope, when there seems to be none.
A poem of love, to someone who is different yet the same
A poem of feelings in a world where too many go unnoticed
