DENTZEL CAROUSEL

One of the Washington areas local treasures, the historic Glen Echo Park Dentzel Carousel was installed at the Park in 1921. This preserved and working carousel in Glen Echo MD USA brings back memories of an simpler time of life when amusement park rides merely whirled you around and still the children were thrilled to ride. Today if opens in on weekends to give local children a free ride.

  • Yes, me too. In Asbury Park NJ there was a great carousel I use to ride as a kid, unfortunately it’s no longer there. Maryland preserved the amusement park because of the civil rights movement. The park was one of the places that was integrated in 1960, and the carousel was part of a sit in to get the park integrated. I think because of that historic event, the carousel was saved. It still runs now and then and they give the kids free rides.
